Before you go
Yes. The mausoleum and its grounds are open every day of the year on foot. Walkers, cyclists and horse riders are welcome without booking. Vehicle access is on Open Days only.
No. Entry is free. A key to the crypt costs £5 plus a £5 refundable deposit, available from three local outlets nearby.
The oak doors are kept locked when a Visitor Guide is not on site. Borrow a key from The Ancrum Pantry in Ancrum village, the LilliardsEdge Holiday Park shop, or the Lothian Estates Office at Bonjedward.
On Open Days, a car park is open at the mausoleum from 10am to 4pm. On other days, park at the lay-by on the A68 and follow the farm track up through the woodland - about a ten minute walk.
